VerdeLens helps you identify plants and insects, diagnose plant health, and get care advice. We collect as little personal data as possible. VerdeLens does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to use the app.
Photos you submit are sent to our processing service and third-party recognition providers to return a result. Plant care data you enter (names, rooms, logs, journal) is stored locally on your device. We generate an anonymous device identifier to enforce free-usage quotas; it is not linked to your real identity. We collect basic usage/diagnostic data to operate the service. Approximate location may be sent with identification requests only if you grant permission (optional).
We do NOT collect your name, email, phone, or account credentials (no login). We do not sell your data. We do not serve third-party ads.
Your garden data — plants, rooms, reminders, care logs, streaks, history, and journal entries (including journal photos) — is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers. Deleting the app removes this data.
Submitted photos and minimal necessary data are processed by recognition providers (Kindwise) for plant/insect identification and health assessment; by AI providers (Anthropic, Google, OpenAI) for care advice and pest assessment; and by Cloudflare, which hosts our processing service and provides temporary caching. We send only the data necessary for the feature you invoked.
Recognition results may be cached against an image hash for a limited period (currently up to 30 days), after which the entry expires. [CONFIRM whether original images are retained and the actual retention period before publishing.]
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple via the App Store. We do not receive or store payment card details.
Camera (capture photos for identification/diagnosis/light meter), Notifications (care reminders you schedule, optional), Location (optional, to improve accuracy). You can change these in iOS Settings.
VerdeLens is not directed to children under [13/16, per applicable law]. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data. As we keep no accounts and most data is on-device, deletion is achieved by removing the app. For data tied to your anonymous ID, contact support@verdelens.com.
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and limit access to processing infrastructure. No method is completely secure.
Providers and infrastructure may be located outside your jurisdiction; data may be processed internationally.
We may update this policy; material changes update the Effective date above.
